How Sleeping Medications Work - End Your Addiction To Sleeping Pills Right Away

Do you have trouble sleeping on a regular basis? Are you often tossing and turning, wondering how he will ever get just a few hours of sleep, not understanding what you need to do? When you go to your doctor, they may recommend that you take anti-anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines, but they will more often prescribe something a little less potent, but very helpful, which are sleeping pills. Sleeping pills may include Ambien and Sonata, two of the most popular. You may also get a prescription for Lunesta. Either way, these pills will interact within your body in a certain way that can allow you to fall asleep. Let's look at what they do, how they work, and how you can stop being addicted to them right away.

What Sleeping Pills Actually Do

Sleeping pills are considered to be sedative hypnotics. Some of them are related to benzodiazepines, whereas others are related to barbiturates. They will increase your levels of drowsiness, and affect your central nervous system by depressing it, causing you to fall asleep. The side effects that you could experience include having an upset stomach in the morning, constipation, gas, heartburn, and very unusual dreams. To move away from these, and find something that can help you that is more natural, there are a couple things you can do.

How To Stop Using Sleeping Pills

If you would prefer not using sleeping pills, whether they are benzodiazepines or barbiturates, you can try something natural like valerian root which has helped many people fall asleep. You can also go to counseling which can help you with the anxiety that may be keeping you awake. Finally, you can also find a treatment center that can help you with your specific problem, allowing you to get away from sleeping pills and also rest more easily at night.

How To Avoid Addiction To Ambien Or Sonata

If you are currently having quite a bit of difficulty when it comes to sleeping at night, it could have a lot to do with your personal life. You may be going through a great deal of stress at your place of employment, or maybe your social life is not quite in balance. You may be going through a divorce, or a bad relationship, or you could have possibly just had a string of bad luck come your way.

Regardless of the reason you're not sleeping, you can always get a prescription for either Ambien or Sonata to help you sleep. The problem with these drugs is that they become very addicting over time, which is why many people try to stop using them. Here are some tips on getting rid of your addiction to either of these drugs, plus a remedy that might help you sleep.

Why Sleeping Drugs Are Addicting

In the same way that opiates are able to effectively change the way your neural transmitters operate, and the way that your central nervous system effects your ability to feel pain, sleeping medications also interact within the brain by affecting certain receptors that cause you to go to sleep. When you are taking Ambien or Sonata, they are able to affect these changes quite rapidly, usually within 20 minutes, causing you to go to sleep.

They essentially make you feel more relaxed, and in doing so, you're able to go to sleep throughout the night, and usually wake up refreshed. Unfortunately, this may actually stop working in a pleasant manner, causing you to have a feeling as if you are hung over. To get rid of these drugs in your life, there are some options you might want to consider.

Getting Help For Sleeping Medication Addiction

A choice that many people make when using these drugs, especially if they want to stop using them, is to work with a group of professionals that can help them gradually diminish their overall use until they no longer need them. Another method is to use something more natural that can also help you sleep.

There are several natural herbs and supplements that are out there that can replicate to some degree what Ambien and Sonata are able to do. By substituting these natural remedies, like valerian root, you will be able to quickly and your addiction to the sleeping medications.

My Mom and Wack

I was raised in an environment where Angel Dust was a big part of what happened in my life. Most people can recall how their own issues caused them trouble down the road, but that was not the case I was dealing with. In fact, in my life the issue had to do with the fact that my mother was going through a phase where she was unable to get out from under the problems that were taking her life over.

It was sad to see, but what could I have done in this situation? All I could do as a child was watch as her life started to fall apart even though I was there for her. She didn't want to get over the issues that had consumed her and that caused her to go deeper into her addiction to PCP.

I think the main reason for her not being able to deal with the issue was that there was no one to tell her about going through with substance abuse treatment right away. There was no reason for her to deal with this issue unless she wanted to go down a path that was going to cause more issues than anything else.

I didn't want to see anyone have to deal with this and it really hurt me to have to see anyone go through this kind of issue. I just wanted my mom to get better, but she never really was able to. I think anyone that is going through this issue should be seeking assistance as soon as possible and should realize the issues that are in their life. If they do this, making the change to a better life without this PCP is going to become much easier than ever before. This is the charm of it all.

How I Avoid Inhalants Now

There was a time where I was going all out with the glue sniffing. It was something that I liked doing and it felt great. The body would feel fantastic afterwards and I would get this rush that would otherwise be impossible to get. In order to continue to get this rush, I started to worsen my use of huff. It seemed like the best thing to do at the time, but of course I realized soon enough that I was going down a very bad path that would not end well for me, if I didn't stop now. This is when I decided to make a change and get off of the whippets.

The substance abuse was getting to my head and I could feel that my body was not as fit as it used to be in the past. This was scary because I was so young and that shouldn't have been happening to me at this point in my life. However, it was and that sent a shiver down my spine right away that it was time to make sure I was getting the kind of help that I required at the moment. Anything short of this was not good enough.

The substance abuse treatment that I am still getting to this day is quite effective. I have not done any of those inhalants in the recent past and I don't think I ever will. This is what matters most to me as I want to get the kind of results that are going to change my life forever. I can see that my body is feeling better now and that is a definite plus point considering the way it was beforehand. These little changes do matter and I am definitely headed down the right path.

What Is Alcohol Abuse?

Most people believe that they are able to drink "socially", meaning that they feel they are able to have a drink or two on social occasions without drinking too much alcohol. The fact is, most people who drink overdo it. It is the rare person who can have a glass of wine or beer or a cocktail occasionally and not drink too much.

The reason for this is that alcohol lowers a person's inhibitions and impairs good judgment. A person may intend to have one or two drinks, but the alcohol causes the drinker's convictions to falter. Often, the more a person drinks, the more he or she wants to drink.

Alcohol abuse doesn't always look like this, though. Some alcoholics may not drink a lot, but they do drink in a prescribed and ritualistic manner. This type of alcoholic may have a cocktail upon arriving home, a glass of wine with dinner and a brandy before bed every single day.

In this case the problem is not so much the amount the person is drinking but rather that the person must drink the same drinks at the same time every day. Interference with this "drinking schedule" causes the drinker to feel anxious and/or angry, and that is a sign of alcohol abuse or alcoholism.

A person who drinks too much or who drinks in a rigid and ritualistic manner should seek to change the situation. Alcohol can ruin a person's life, and it can ruin the lives of the person surrounding the alcoholic.

Alcoholics make poor decisions. They tend to squander money. In fact, the mere act of financially supporting a drinking habit squanders money. Alcoholics may become secretive and self-centered, especially if their alcohol abuse is challenged by others.

It is hard to stop drinking on your own, and it is impossible to stop drinking just because someone else wants you to. If you suspect you may be abusing alcohol, your suspicion is enough reason to seek help. Alcohol abuse treatment centers offer a variety of programs. Enrolling in a program can  help you gain perspective on your situation and get your drinking under control.

Becoming an alcoholic is a process, one that grows every day, finally to a point where it may be affecting your health. Alcohol and drug abuse are problems that many people face across the world, and here are some treatment options that you should consider if this is a problem that you currently have.

Alcohol Abuse Statistics You Should Know

Alcohol is not that bad if it is used in moderation. According to statistics, at least half of the population has a drink once or twice a week, which is perfectly healthy and good for you. Your doctor may know who you can call, something that saves you a lot of research time. Crystal Meth Abuse - How To Get Treatment Right Away

If you have ever had an addiction to any type of drug, you know that dealing with this on your own can be quite problematic. The ability to stop your addiction to drugs like opiates or cocaine is almost impossible unless you get some type of professional help. One drug that is very similar to this is crystal meth, an illegal drug that is sold on the market, or a drug that you can take as prescribed by your doctor. Substance abuse treatment for this particular drug can be found in most urban and rural areas.  It just depends upon how larger addiction is to this substance. Here's a little overview of what crystal meth or speed will actually do, and why a methamphetamine might be prescribed by your doctor if you have certain issues.

Why Methamphetamines Are Prescribed

A methamphetamine is often prescribed by a doctor in order to treat people that are suffering from depression or an inability to function throughout the day. They act as an upper, stimulating the central nervous system, causing people to have more energy and focus. If they are purchased on the street, this drug is often called crystal.  It can be snorted, injected, or smoked. The reaction is that you have an instant high which causes you to have lots of energy, but that will be quickly followed by a drop in your ability to focus and move. That's why people become addicted, craving the energy that gives them, mostly because it fades so quickly. Here are some ways to get treatment for crystal meth.

Treatment Centers For Crystal Meth

Getting treated for crystal meth usually involves checking into a clinic. If you are able to get to a clinic and stay there for several weeks, you can usually be free of your addiction in a short period of time. As long as you don't start using again, it is possible for you to remain clean and free from this addicting and sometimes debilitating substance. If you are being treated for a certain condition, and you have a prescription from your doctor, it is not as dangerous although you should find a way to stop using it as soon as possible. Those that use it often age more quickly as it deteriorates the cells of your body. You can find out more information about treatment for methamphetamines from your local doctor or friends that have had similar treatments.

LSD Abuse - Get Treatment As Soon As Possible

Anyone that grew up during the 60s, or even up until the present day, has heard of LSD at some point in time. Lysergic acid diethylamide is a substance that is known for its psychedelic abilities and the strange psychological effects that it can provide for those that take it. One of the most interesting aspects of this drug is that you can actually see your hallucinations with your eyes open, as if the world in front of you is mutating into something completely new and strange. These strange affects are what keep people coming back for more, yet most of them are unaware of how addicting and dangerous this drug can be. Here is a brief overview of how acid is made, and why you should end your addiction to this substance as soon as you can.

Why LSD Is Dangerous

Popularized by Timothy Leary in the 60s, a Harvard professor that gained worldwide notoriety for promoting this substance, it still remains a very popular substance because of the effects that it can cause. He was actually created by laboratories to be a therapeutic agent because of its psychedelic properties. The CIA actually thought they could use this during the Cold War, part of their chemical and mind control programs. Today, more studies are being done on this drug, even for its uses in helping people fight alcoholism and is used for pain management. Despite these medicinal properties, it can cause psychosis, flashbacks, and mental disorders if taken too much.

Treatment Options For LSD Users

If you are going to use LSD, make sure that you understand the risk you are taking. Also note that if you are trying to stop using LSD, there is plenty of help available for you. You simply have to contact a rehabilitation center that specializes in helping people stop using LSD, also known as blotter on the street. Regardless of its name, and despite his therapeutic values when used in clinical studies, it is a drug that you should not overuse because it can cause many adverse reactions.

Alcohol Is More Dangerous Than You Think

There are many people who have no idea how harmful alcohol can be to the body. Since most cultures use wine as a way to loosen up and have a great time, it is believed that it is perfectly safe to have a drink. While this is true to some degree, the reality is that many people have trouble knowing when enough is enough.

Drinking a drink or two with dinner is perfectly fine, but once someone starts to depend on drinking in order to function well, there is indeed a problem. When it reaches this level, it can cause problems worse than you could have ever imagined. Not only can it cause emotional and mental difficulties, but it can wreak havoc on the body.

Symptoms of Alcohol AbuseSymptoms of Abuse

Your organs cannot function as well as they should once alcohol starts to defeat them. For example, many people who abuse alcohol develop problems with their liver. This organ serves as a way for the body to remove all waste. If it is not functioning correctly, this means that toxins can build up in the body and cause all types of infections.

Another huge problem that people with alcohol abuses issues must face is society. There is no way that you can continue to be a high-standing member of society when all you are concerned about is when you are going to get your next drink. How in the world will anyone be able to depend on you to be a great worker, parent, family member or friend if your only concern is what is in a bottle.

As you can probably tell by now, alcohol abuse is not something that should be taken lightly. If you think that your drinking may be getting out of control, it would be best to seek help before things have the opportunity to get any worse.

Medically Prescribed Heroin Is Not Acceptable

Everyone knows the dangers of heroin and how devastating withdrawal symptoms are, but publicly funded prescribed heroin programs are not working. They are simply a legal way for addicts to keep up their habit without fear of arrest.

Cheaper To Taxpayers Than Methadone

Studies indicate that treating addicts with diacetylmorphine, the prescription substitute for heroin, is cheaper than methadone. While this may reduce the burden of drug abuse on the public welfare system, it's still no solution. However, due to this benefit, people are squawking less than they did with the problems created by methadone clinics. There's less public outcry over diacetylmorphine, because use of it is kept behind closed doors, keeping it off city streets and the steps of town halls.

Addicts Are Still Addicts

Whether on the street version of heroin or pharmaceutical substitute, people's lives are still just as messed up. They live and die for the drug, and many use their prescriptions as commodities. They trade the medicine for cash or other drugs, but again, since this is rarely a problem for the general public, it goes largely unnoticed. The patient prescribed diacetylmorphine is no less a user or an addict because it's given to them by a doctor.

Real Treatment Provides Real Results

In most cases, there's an underlying cause for drug abuse, no matter what the substance of choice is. These are the issues that need to be addressed by professional health care workers, in cooperation with out or in patient treatment programs. The same applies for people who are addicts for no other reason than their recreational or experimental use graduated to serious addiction. Those who are hooked on one drug and fed something else by the public health system simply continue the self-abusive and self-destructive lifestyle, only with a "get out of jail free" card.

Getting off of drugs means getting off of drugs, period. Addicts who are coddled by programs giving them free prescription heroine or methadone simply represent the problem being swept under the rug, on the tax payers dime.

How to Identify and Treat an Addiction to PCP

Phencyclidine, more commonly referred to as PCP, Angel Dust, and Wack, is a dangerous and highly addictive drug. The drug is often sold on the streets in a pill form, it can also be snorted or injected into the bloodstream. This article looks at how a PCP addiction can be identified and treated.

Symptoms of a PCP addiction can sometimes not be noticed by someone else at first. Users can experience numbness, trouble speaking and trouble functioning physically. They may actually appear to have consumed too much alcohol, and if they're also drinking it can make the problem harder to detect.

PCP also causes sudden mood swings, which are dangerous and can become violent, as well as different types of dangerous hallucinations, which have led to accidents and death. Users may also develop mental issues such as anxiety and depression. PCP has also been known to make users exhibit symptoms of schizophrenia.

The longer Angel Dust is used the worse the symptoms can get, and also like alcohol, more and more is needed over time to achieve the same type of high. Often times, people who have an addiction problem have pushed everyone close to them away by the time they recognize a problem. They may feel alone and depressed, this is when it's time to seek help.

Cessation from PCP should not be done alone. Users should seek medical and psychological help at a rehabilitation or addiction treatment center. A doctor can provide pharmaceuticals that will aid in the symptoms of cessation, and both private and group therapy sessions can help users successfully kick the habit.

PCP is a highly addictive drug that can lead to permanent physical and mental health problems the longer it’s used. Once the problem is recognized by the user it's time to seek help. Rehabilitation centers are available with a variety of ways to treat an individual’s unique addiction problems.

Addiction To Fentany - Easy Ways To End Your Addiction

You have probably heard of several different opiate drugs such as morphine or methadone. These are often prescribed to those that are suffering from some type of physical pain that cannot be alleviated using something as basic as Tylenol or ibuprofen. Opioids and morphine derivatives are prescribed every day by doctors that are seeking to help people control their pain. The only problem with these drugs is that they are very addicting, and can lead to a lifelong association with these poppy seed based pharmaceuticals. One drug in particular, fentany, is one that you should stay away from. Here is an overview of the drug, and ways to get off of it using treatment centers and common sense.

What Is Fentany?

Also known as fentanyl and fentanil, it is an opiate analgesic that is extremely potent for providing any relief. It is also a very strong agonist for mu receptors which is the primary reason that opiates are able to reduce pain. It was synthesized back in the 60s and has been found to be up to 100 times more potent than morphine. In the 90s, it was used as what is called the Duragesic patch and can also be sprayed on the skin. The problem with this drug is because it is so strong, many deaths have resulted from both medical and recreational use. Its effects on the mu receptors is very strong, and therefore the withdrawal symptoms you experience getting off of this opiate medication will be quite severe.

Ending Your Addiction To Fentany

In order to stop using fentany, you will have to do one of two things. You can stop using it altogether, and go through the withdrawals on your own. Or, you can go through the withdrawals at a treatment center that is specifically designed to help individuals that need to stop using this drug. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms will occur, and depending upon the strength of the dosage, and how long you have been using, the effects could be quite severe. Find out more about treatment centers in your area so that you will have the best possible chance of ending your addiction.

Substance Abuse And Ketamine

Ketamine is a type of anesthetic. It is occasionally used for medical purposes in humans, but is more commonly used for sedating large animals such as horses. Some drug users use it to distort reality. On the streets, the drug is typically referred to by names such as K, Special K or vitamin K.

Why Do People Take Ketamine?

Ketamine doesn't just sedate you, it can cause a person to trip. This can involve sensations such as floating or a feeling of being detached from the world. Some users refer to this effect as "going through the k hole".

Some people will also experience a visual or auditory hallucination. This can last for anything from 30 minutes up until around 6 hours.

What Are The Risks Of Using Special K?

Many people find the experience of taking ketamine very unpleasant. It can leave a person feeling very confused about what is going on around them, and psychosis can result from the hallucinations.

Ketamine abuse can damage both the short term and the long term memory, and some scientific studies have shown it to have a strong link with the development of anxiety, panic disorders or depression.

When ketamine is taken illegally, rather than being used properly by a medical professional, there is a very serious risk of damage to the urinary tract. This can make it very difficult to urinate and can be extremely painful. In the worst case scenario, surgery may be needed to correct the problem.

This type of substance abuse has also been linked with many deaths. This usually occurs when the drug has been taken with alcohol or other drugs, and is due to impaired heart function.

You can learn more about tackling ketamine from your family doctor. If you have an addiction it is very important to seek help.

Glue Sniffing And Substance Abuse - Get Help Today

Known as an intoxicated inhalant, there are certain glues that are made that put off toxic vapors. When placed in a plastic bag, and inhale over and over, it can create a strange mental or cognitive effect. These inhalant drugs are used for medical purposes, but glue sniffing is something completely different. It is something that many children try at least once just to see how it feels, but if they do this too often, it can cause health issues, and at the very least, an addiction. There are ways to find substance abuse centers in virtually any city, some of which focus solely upon this bad habit. Let's look at how to find them, and also why huff and whippets are dangerous for the human body.

Why Glue Sniffing Can Be Deadly

This particular form of substance abuse usually starts with adolescents. It's something that they have been told about by older kids, and they end up trying it out. The most common glue that is used is for making airplanes, and the fumes can cause exhilaration and euphoria. Kids will also sniff other substances such as paint, cleaning fluids, gasoline, lighter fluid and even a wide assortment of hairspray. Whether the glue is placed into a bag, or placed on a cloth that you then breathe through, the desired effect will occur, causing potential respiratory problems, a habit that should definitely be avoided.

Getting Treatment For Glue Sniffing

If you are sniffing glue on a regular basis, and you don't know how to stop, you can get treatment from treatment centers in your immediate area that will be willing to help you out. It's important to realize that glue sniffing can also cause damage to the lungs and brain, which is why it is imperative that you avoid this habit, an addictive habit that many treatment centers can help with today.

Effects And Treatment Of Alcohol Abuse

What is Alcohol Abuse?

Alcohol, also known as booze, liquor, grog, piss or nip is a depressant drug that slows down the messages traveling from the brain to the body.  Alcohol abuse occurs when a person consumes alcohol regularly and in large amounts and can lead to alcoholism, which is a total addiction to the drug with an uncontrollable urge to consume more and more.

All drugs carry risks and there is no safe level for its use, therefore caution should be taken when using drugs of any type or description.  Each individual will react differently to alcohol  based on the weight and size, the amount consumed, the percentage of alcohol in the drink, and whether the person is used to drinking on a regular basis.

Effects of Alcohol Abuse

Depending on the above criteria, the effects of alcohol may include the following:
  • Feeling Relaxed
  • Slower reflexes
  • Difficulty in concentrating
  • Increased confidence
  • Feelings of happiness or sadness, depending on the mood of the user

If a large amount of alcohol is consumed the following effects may be experienced:

  • Blurred vision
  • Confusion
  • Clumsiness
  • Loss of memory
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Passing out
  • Coma
  • Death

Treatment for Alcohol and Drug Abuse

Giving up alcohol after long term consumption can be difficult and challenging as the body has to be trained to function again without it.  The best course of action is to seek advice from a health care professional who is experienced in alcohol and drug abuse treatment.

Entering a drug and alcohol abuse facility takes courage and requires full commitment to the treatment.  The support of family and friends is crucial to the successful treatment of a drug or alcohol problem.  Treatment in a specialized facility will include the use of medication and psychological treatment as well as group sessions.  The condition of the patient is constantly monitored and treatment prescribed according to progress or failure to respond.

The effects of drinking alcohol and taking drugs, including OTC or prescribed medicine, is unpredictable and dangerous and when certain drugs are combined the risks increase.

Five Main Advantages Of Substance Abuse Testing At Home

A home substance abuse test is a piece of scientific equipment that is used to test a sample from the suspected individual for the presence of various drugs. This form of testing has gained popularity in recent years especially from parents with teenagers. This is because teenagers are increasingly getting exposed to drugs in society. The home test is more advantageous than the one done at the lab for the following reasons.

You get your results faster. Since the test is conducted within minutes you can easily tell if the individual is using amphetamines which are also known as speed or uppers. There is also no time wasted on delivery of samples and results all of which consume time.

You get to deter children from substance abuse. Even though children may try to influence their friends to take drugs such as amphetamines, the availability of home testing is enough deterrent to discourage them since testing is done right at home.

The tests are also affordable. The home tests are significantly cheaper than those conducted in laboratories. This is why these home tests have gained massive popularity with employers conducting the tests on their employees.

The tests are private. Since the tests are conducted right at home there is the benefit of privacy. This is important in small neighborhoods and towns where you don’t want all people to know that you are conducting drug tests on your children.

The tests are also convenient. This is because since the tests are easily portable you can carry them when going on vacations and trips. Some tests are so small that they can literally fit in your pocket. They are also easy to use and do not invade anyone’s physical privacy.

In conclusion, those are the main advantages to having substance abuse tests done at home. As is common knowledge it is always better to prevent substance abuse than to deal with it.

Getting Substance Abuse Treatment for Angel Dust Addiction

Angel dust, also known as PCP, has been around since the 1950s when it was created as an anesthetic. However, it produced unwanted side effects, including mania and hallucinations. It was discontinued for medical use but remained in circulation in the underground drug trade. Users find themselves experiencing a sense of detachment and may have difficulty with coordination and speech.

When a person is high on the drug, they frequently have involuntary eye movements and may have difficulty walking. The hallucinations can lead to dangerous and bizarre behavior. Due to an increase in paranoia and anxiety, some users act out violently, harming themselves or others.

The drug increasing heart and respiration rates. Blood pressure rises though, with higher doses, it can fall to dangerous levels. At the worst, PCP can cause seizures and coma. Many have died while under the effects, often due to injury.

The drug is highly addictive and harms multiple parts of the brain. Addicts find trouble with memory loss and depression. Prolonged use can lead to difficulties with speech and learning processes. Weight loss is also common for angel dust addicts.

It is important for someone addicted to PCP to get treatment from a medical facility that can help them to safely withdraw from the drug. Seizures and other medical complications are common and the staff at a rehabilitation center is trained in how to help the addict through this troubling process.

It may take quite some time after quitting the drug for the addict to begin to feel normal again. This should not be a cause for alarm as it is part of the recovery process. Over time, the addict can learn to enjoy life without the use of drugs. All it takes is dedication and time to happen.

Crystal Meth Drug Rehabilitation Options

One of the most debilitating drugs that people can take, especially if taken for many years, is crystal meth. It is a drug which is often associated with individuals that are druggies, and those that have very little control over their life. It is very addicting, prompting many people to find any way that they can to get their next bump or hit. As a result of this, treatment centers have appeared across the nation providing services for individuals that would like to get clean from this very addicting substance. Here's a brief look at crystal meth and how you can get treated for this addiction.

Substance Abuse With Speed

Methamphetamines literally look like small crystals before they are pulverized into a powder. They can be smoked or snorted, usually through the nose, and they can also be injected. You will develop a strong propensity toward having this drug in your life the longer that you use it. It gives a false sense of happiness and well-being, and when you are out, this false sense crashes extremely hard, making people crave the drug even more. That's why it's important to not use this drug, and to get clean as quickly as possible.

Treatment For Crank Substance-Abuse

People often state that once they have tried crystal meth, it's hard to not use it again. It's extremely addicting, and if used in higher amounts, they can be addicted first time around. Treatment for this particular drug can last several months depending upon the severity of the addiction. It is a stimulant that will actually destroy your body, your memory, and potentially contribute to heart and brain damage, which is why so many people get treatment for this drug.

PCP Can And Will Ruin You

A lot of people out there don't really do PCP any longer, but it's still an issue in some communities. It's important to realize why this isn't a good thing to be on. Here you'll get an idea of why this substance is dangerous so you can figure out why to avoid it.

Know that when you take PCP and use it, there's no telling what it's going to do to you. You may have a good time when you do it first, or you could totally have a freak out and end up in jail or dead. People that do this drug are one person one minute, and the next they're stripping their clothes off and chasing people down the street. The reason for this is unknown, but it is known that most people that do PCP will snap at some point due to the drug's side effects.

When on PCP you will have little control over how you're acting. It causes a disconnect in your brain and so you're basically just being controlled by the drug. Even if you'd never hurt someone or yourself, that may happen on the drug since your brain will be totally scrambled up in a way. Don't do a drug like this if you don't want to land in jail or kill yourself. It's a scary thing to have a normal life one minute, and then since you did PCP once the rest of your life is never going to be the same.

Now you're aware of the dangers of PCP and should be a little more scared of it. This is a difficult drug to predict the effects of, but it's a good idea to get to know it a little better so you know not to mess with it.

What Is Ecstasy? Information About This Hallucinogenic

Many people have heard of ecstasy, but they do not really know what it is.  Ecstasy is a drug that is commonly abused.  It has both hallucinogenic and stimulant effects on most users.  Because of this it is a commonly abused drug in the rave scene.

Ecstasy was first developed over a hundred years ago, and was intended to be used as an appetite suppressant.  It has now evolved into a rave and club scene drug.  Many abusers will mix ecstasy with other drugs, but they will often avoid alcohol use.  This is because they believe that the alcohol will diminish the effects of the drug.

Ecstasy is usually found in tablet form and taken orally.  The tablets can also be ground to make a powder that will allow the user to inhale the drug for faster effects.  This drug is very rarely injected into the body.  The route of administration will determine how quickly the effects are felt.  The average length of feeling effects is four to six hours.

Use of ecstasy can result in a wide variety of effects and undesirable side effects.  Many of the possible problems that a user might encounter are similar to cocaine and amphetamines.  Long term users that have had examinations by doctors have neurons in their brains that show damage.

The damaged areas of the brain deal with the areas of emotion, learning and sleep.  Any damage to these areas can greatly affect the life of the former user.  Many users do not think of the long term effects of a drug that makes you feel good in the short term.  It might possibly help to have former users talk to young adults before their first time taking the drug in order to help dissuade them from ever trying it the first time.

Marijuana Or Pot Drug Abuse And The Ramifications

Marijuana

Right now there are various states in the US that are legalizing the smoking of Marijuana under various circumstances. The motivation for this is the hue and the cry of pot smokers who claim that is harms no one but themselves, and that there is great doubt that it is harmful at all.

In addition, there is the medicinal factor that pot smoking alleviates pain from certain diseases such as cancer and arthritis. Our prisons are overflowing with people who have been dealers of marijuana and who got arrested one too many times, and ended up in the slammer.

The person who smokes pot on a regular basis will claim that it is as harmless as smoking a cigarette, but wait a minute, smoking a cigarette is not so harmless. It is estimated that the carcinogenic effects of smoking pot is way higher than those of smoking regular tobacco, and those are bad enough. Each year there are more than 160,000 lung cancer deaths in the United States.

The immediate effects of marijuana smoking is a euphoric state, go "getting high" and then a temporary loss of memory, and a continued "stoned" feeling. Motor skills become impaired and the mouth becomes dry, and the eyes become reddened.

Side effects of continued pot smoking over an extended period of time can contribute to liver malfunction, difficulties with heart, lung, and vascular function, and eventual COPD.

Other safety concerns include the possibility of the development of schizophrenia, memory and cognitive impairment issues. There have been studies that have shown without a doubt that pot smokers have exhibited a physical change in chromosome makeup, which would have unknown results moving forward.

The medical value of cannabis, as pot is called, is disputed by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, as it is stated that the negative effects outweigh any positive results the drug might make available.

Abuse of Crack, Cocaine, Rock And The Ramifications

Cocaine, crack cocaine and derivatives affect the dopamine in the brain giving the individual a "high" or a feeling of euphoria. If the individual continues to take the drug either by smoking, injection or by snorting the powder, it takes longer to get high with each successive hit. This promotes overuse of the drug, which can be dangerous.

What happens is that the more hits in succession a user takes, the longer it takes for the dopamine in the brain takes to get replenished, and each time a hit is taken the highs become less intense.

When cocaine is taken repeatedly, which tends to be the case in binge usage causes irritability, paranoia and restlessness. Too much of a good thing can lead to a full-blown psychosis where the person can lose all touch with reality and can experience all kinds of hallucinations.

One specific psychosis involves affected individuals believing that they feel or perceive that they have parasites that are crawling under their skin. These types of reactions can actually  be a good thing, because it can cause people to stop taking more hits.

In situations where the binge continues, people can develop a higher tolerance for the drug where it takes more and more hits to reach a stage of satisfaction where the person starts to endanger him or herself with too much of the drug.

Each person is affected differently with these cocaine derivatives, such as crack and rock. Some people develop an early sensitivity to cocaine due to the drugs pain killing attributes. These people can have convulsive seizures, without increasing the dosage, and respiratory and cardiovascular issues can occur. This can explain many of the deaths of people on relatively low doses of the drug.

Abuse of cocaine derived drugs is a dangerous and difficult road to travel as it is extremely addictive and easy to abuse without an individual really becoming aware of the abuse.

Crack Addiction Explained

For many, many years, cocaine has been used by people all throughout the United States and around the globe. In recent years, there has been a trend of turning cocaine in raw form into crack rock, which has turned into a huge business underground. The process of making crack has made the drug a whole lot cheaper for those who may not be able to afford cocaine in raw form. However, once someone begins using crack, the stopping is not as easy as one would think.

As if a cocaine rush isn't dangerous enough, the rush that you can get from crack actually lasts longer. This not only makes it more appealing for an addict, but it makes the money spent more worthwhile for someone who is looking for a decent rush. Whenever a crack addict starts to run out, they will begin focusing on the many different ways that they can get more crack to just use again. It goes without saying that this starts the user on a dangerous path of acquiring, using and then going through withdrawal until they are able to acquire more drugs. Because going through withdrawal can be uncomfortable and even painful in some cases, an addict will usually do everything they can to avoid it.

The Real Dangers of Crack Cocaine Use

Using crack cocaine is very dangerous. However, an addict will not think of all of the health risks. Instead, they will just look for another fix to make them feel better and feel the rush for the time being. What they are failing to recognize is that some of the dangers of crack abuse can include necrosis, respiratory failure, heart attack and even death. Addicts will also usually become rather anti-social, especially if they are stuck in a pattern which leads them into a downward spiral. In the end, it is better to learn more about how to help those that you love who may be on crack to try and get them on a happier and healthier path.
